A Word from Cassie Dixon
As the harnesses and ropes kept us safe, God is even more trustworthy and will always be with us to catch us when we fall. The Christmas season reminds us of the lengths to which He will go for our salvation.

Tomorrow, students will be holding a sausage sizzle for Secondary students and staff. For all students, Zooper Doopers will be sold at the Hall during recess and lunch for $1 as well.
Genuine, meaningful partnership between parents and teachers has always been a foundation of learning and community at Kuyper, and it has never been more important than it is right now.
Your support and assistance on the home front is vital to achieving successful learning outcomes for your children over coming months. Thank you for your commitment to partnership during this time.
All K-6 students will access classwork through Google Classroom over Term 2. Younger students will naturally require more assistance to do this successfully.
Work for all K-6 classes will be released each day in two chunks,
Google Classroom does not have a parent portal facility. This means that parents cannot be given their own login access. In order to view a student’s Google Classroom, parents need to ask their children to show them. For instructions on accessing and using Google Classroom, please refer to our Google Classroom – Parent Guide.
For younger students, it is anticipated that you will be logging in on their behalf. If you cannot find your child’s login details, please contact their Class Teacher.
Specific information from your child’s teacher will be placed in a topic labelled ‘General’ in Google Classroom. Please carefully read this information with your child. Please be sure to also read the K-6 Student Expectations section of this website.
The learning activities provided on Google Classroom will be supplemented by a fortnightly pack of hard copy resources. You should have collected your first fortnightly pack in Curriculum Week. Further packs will be available for collection on Wednesdays in the even weeks of Term 2 (Weeks 2,4,6 & 8). Your class teacher will advise each fortnight if a pack needs to be collected for your child. If collecting in person is not possible, please contact the School Office promptly to arrange postage.
Primary teachers will be providing the same learning activities for students whether they are working from home or at school. Students who come to school will be completing the same lessons delivered through Google Classroom as those at home on any given day. This is a matter of equity, safety and limited human resources.
For K-2 students, it is assumed that a parent, (or other suitable person), will be sitting beside them as they access their learning material. It is not expected that they will be working independently. Students in middle and upper Primary will require varying levels of support according to their confidence with digital technologies, and their general academic ability.
Staff will be available to answer questions that a student may have about work. These questions can be asked through Google Classroom, by emailing the class teacher, or by calling the school.
If you have issues with technology, please contact the school or submit an IT Help Request.
Once again, we thank you for your invaluable partnership at all times, and especially during Term 2, 2020.
All 7-12 students will access classwork through Google Classroom. Secondary students are already familiar with the Google Classroom platform.

Only Year 11 & 12 will have normal structured lessons at School, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays commencing 12 May. It is expected that Year 11 & 12 complete Google Classroom work for the remainder of the week.

As we work together in partnership to facilitate and support the learning of your children, please be mindful of the following:
Should you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to phone, email or drop into the School Office.
We remain committed to providing quality teaching and support for our students during this time. This support will naturally look a bit different in the environment of remote learning. The information below will assist you in understanding how Diversability@Home will function.
As always, communication is vital to a good partnership. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s learning please Contact us.
The individual needs of all Primary students will be catered for by their class teacher. Small group intervention programs will not run remotely for Primary students. Spelling Mastery is the core Spelling program for all students in Years 3-6 and will continue to run in these classes.
Please contact your child’s Class Teacher if you have any questions or concerns about their learning.
Secondary students who normally receive regular assistance from teacher’s aides at school, will continue to receive support whilst engaged in School@Home learning.
Students will be invited to small Support groups in Google Classroom, with an aide assigned as the teacher in this space. New work will not be posted here. All tasks and content will still come directly from subject teachers in their own Google Classrooms, where they will also be available to answer questions just like a regular classroom. The Support Classroom will function as a additional place for students to ask questions, discuss problems and receive help and feedback from their teacher’s aide.
Teacher’s aides will also phone each of the students in their support group once a week to check how they are going and troubleshoot any difficulties. In keeping with our School Policy, a parent or carer must be present for the duration of these calls.
Secondary teachers are working hard to make their online lessons accessible to the range of learning needs within their classes. This solid foundation of good teaching, combined with the Support Classroom and regular contact with a teacher’s aide, will make learning accessible and achievable for all students.
Alongside their subject teachers, additional learning support for our Senior Secondary students during the School@Home period will be provided by their designated Mentor teacher.
The Spelling Mastery program, currently being run for some students in Year 7 and Year 8, will continue via pre-recorded video instruction. If your child is in one of these groups, you will receive further information about this.
